Edward Sissor Hands
For this room concept, I chose to do the movie Edward scissor hand. Edward is a misunderstood character who wishes to be accepted and loved. Through the movie, you find yourself empathising with Edward and his circumstance. This heartbroken character struggles to assimilate into every day suburban life and feels like and outcast. He lacks basic social skill which poses a challenge to him making friends. His peculiar personality is charming and unique. In the movie Edwards house is lifeless and dark, he lives upstairs in a building that looked like it was ready to collapse. Although a grand house, it has cobwebs everywhere as well as layers of dust. This is a contrast to the flashbacks you see which is when his creator/father was alive. For this scheme, I wanted to keep with the mystery of the house but give it some more life and restore it to a more happy place. The outside of Edwards house if surrounded by amazing Hedge sculptures and is bright, happy and peaceful which is a contrast from the inside. I want to showcase his love for plants and his creative and eccentric mind.

Living Room Materials

Wall Colour
Supplier: Dulux
Products: Wash&Ware Matt
Finish: Smooth finish and 101 Barrier Technology creates a hard wearing barrier that prevents most marks from penetrating the surface.
Colour: Punga Cove
Scrub Test: Scrubbed Repeatedly with bristle brush and abrasive solution.
The Dark Green colour in the space will add life, although dark it will make a great backdrop and complement the vertical garden wall in the space. Due to the darkness of the colour it will keep the room rather warm and cosy. The paint I chose is water based, low odour, and low VOC which will help the room not to have a strong chemical smell. This means the room can have a fresher more natural smell of plant life instead of chemicals. I chose a matte sheen which withstands wear and tear, stains, marks, and surface imperfections. This is important as the wall need to be harder wearing due to Edwards' hands and need to withstand casual knocks and scraps.

Trim Colour
Supplier: Dulux
Products: Aquanamel Gloss
Finish: Glossy, ultra smooth and tough finish. Solvenet based enamels.
Colour: Whakarewarewa
Gloss Level Indicator: 40 - 50 at 60 degrees VOC Properties: < 60g/L untinted Weatherability: Interior & exterior durable. Heat Resistance: Softens and sticks to other painted surfaces at over 70C Water Resistance: Suitable for use in wet areas Abrasion Resistance: Marks and soiling easily removed. Excellent wet and dry burnish resistance. Solvent Resistance: Sensitive to aromatic hydrocarbons and alcohols
The trim colour I selected is a warm light colour which helps with the transition between the matte walls and hard concrete floor. The Trim Paint is designed to be hard wearing, non-yellowing, resist chipping, and easy to clean. This is good as at Edward is constantly in the garden so he is more than likely to track in mud and dirt into his house.

Rug
Supplier: Worthy
Colour: Two Tone Rope Graphite/Ivory Indoor/Outdoor
Composition: 100% Polypropylene (recycles plastic Bottles)
The rug I chose is water, stain, and mould resistant. The rug is also soft underfoot but is still highly durable. The use of the polypropylene means made of mostly recycled plastic bottles which makes it eco-friendly, which is something I think Edward would care about as he loves the outdoors and plants. The two tones are masculine and add a rough visual texture. The rug also is UV resistant which means it will take a long time to fade and discolour.

Couch
Supplier: James Dunlop Colour :Carbon/09 Composition: 35% WOOL, 30% POLY ACRYLIC, 28% POLYESTER, 7% COTTON Width: 140cm / 55.1" Abrasion: 40,000 Martindale Cycles Brand: Kirkby Design Weight 798.0g/m / 729g/yd Collection: Cheveyo Horizontal Repeat: None Vertical Repeat: None
The couch fabric is a darker coloured fabric to help cover scratches and markings. The pattern repeat is none which means it would be good to cover a large surface area such as the furniture pieces, in this case, a couch. The composition of the fabric makes it hard wearing and tough which is important for Edward as he needs a place to be comfortable.

Lamp Shade
Supplier: James Dunlop Colour: Pelican Composition: 100% POLYESTER Width: 148cm / 58.3" Abrasion: 3,000 Martindale Cycles Brand: James Dunlop Weight: 191.0g/m / 174g/yd Colourfastness: UV 6/8 Blue Scale Horizontal Repeat: None
Vertical Repeat: None Fire Retardancy: NFPA 701 Flammability: NFPA 260, CAL 117
Usage: Drapery Accessory Top of Bed
The lampshade repeat is none which means the lamp can be covered in the fabric without having to match up the pattern. The lampshade is made out of 100% POLYESTER which makes it fire retardant. The colour fastness means that the colour won't change too much over time from UV rays. The abrasion rating also informs us that the material is better used on items which don't encounter much-wearing tear.

Cushion
Supplier: James Dunlop
Colour: Graphite 01 Collection: Shadow Mountain Composition: 88% LINEN, 12% SILK Width: 132cm / 52.0" Abrasion: – Brand: Zinc Horizontal Repeat: 132.0cm / 52.0" Vertical Repeat: 129.0cm / 50.8"
Usage: Drapery Accessory
The cushions I chose is a warm brown coloured fabric which has a scratched pattern on it. I thought this reflected and embraces Edwards hands and his clumsiness.

Flooring
Supplier: Peter Fell
Colour: Premium Charcoal 699
Range: Premium
Composition: Concrete
The flooring I chose is a dark grey concrete. I chose concrete as it is hard wearing and strong which makes it good for resisting scratches caused by metal. The colour is darker grey which will help to hide scuff marks, dirt and mud.

Kitchen Materials

Flooring
Suppiler: Irvine Flooring
Construction: Heterogenous Sheet Vinyl Width: 2.0m & 4.0m Standard Roll Length: 30m Pattern Repeat: Refer to Vinyl Range Statement Total Weight: 1950g/m² Wearlayer Thickness: 0.25mm Total Thickness: 2.5mm Surface Protection: PU / Natural Feel Slip Resistance: DS - R10 (DIN 51130) Fire Test: ISO 9239-1 Acoustic Insulation: 17dB (ISO 717) Thermal Insulation: 0.25W/mK (EN 12524) Chemical Resistance: Very Good (EN ISO 26987) Classification Class: 23 Domestic Heavy / Class 31 Commercial Light
For the kitchen, I chose a wood look vinyl flooring as it will last as long as Edward will. The wood look will compliments of the traditional side of the home and pay tribute to Edwards father who was kind and warm. Vinyl can withstand the impact of Edwards boots and scuff marks that he could possibly leave behind.Vinyl is also chemical, slip, and fire resistant which could be practical due to Edwards clumsiness.

Cabinet Colour
Supplier: Bestwood Colour: Carbon Finish: Super Matte
The cabinet colour I chose is a super Matt finish in charcoal. It is an environmentally friendly choice and is also scratch resistant. The cabinets won't streak or craze and don't need any additional surface finishings which make them a moral and practical choice. The colour keeps with the mood and atmosphere of the house and keeps to the mystery of it.

Benchtop
Supplier: Stainless Bench Tops
Colour: Stainless Steel
Surface Finish: Mirror
Composition: Stainless Steel
I chose stainless steel because of its antibacterial properties, although not scratches resident it is a hard wearing surface. The stainless steel added a visual component to the kitchen and helps to liven up the space. The metals also reflects how Edward dresses.

Drapery
Supplier: James Dunlop
Colour: Ebony 082 Composition: 54% POLYESTER, 46% LINEN Width: 137cm / 53.9" Abrasion: 11,500 Martindale Cycles Brand: Mokum Collection: Moderne Horizontal Repeat: 45cm / 17.7" Vertical Repeat: 37cm / 14.6"
Usage: Upholstery Light Duty Drapery Accessory
The drapery I chose has an eerie feeling to it and represents the mysterious elements of him and his house. The pattern works well as curtains and adds a pattern to an otherwise solid coloured space. The fabric is hard wearing and can withstand some wear. There was no UV rating on this fabric, it can be assumed that it would be lined on the back of the fabric to help reduce sun damage, discoloration, and fading.

This cream toned wall colour has all of the same properties as the green one as it is, water-based, matte sheen, low odour, low VOC, stain and Mark resistance, Hides surface imperfections softens the effects of glare and glancing light.
Thank You!
